PDP leader Dele Momodu has accused INEC and the ruling APC party of attempting to change the requirement that a presidential candidate must receive a majority of votes from 24 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, in order to be recognised as the nation's next president. Such a charge was levelled by him on Instagram.
Recall that the results of Turkey's presidential election were reported to show that Kemal Kilicdaroglu received 44.46% of the vote, while the current president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, received 49.52 percent. However, the country's electoral commission ordered a runoff within two weeks because neither presidential contender received the minimum amount of votes (50%) required by the law to be proclaimed the victor of the election.
Dele Momodu, a Nigerian businessman, commented on the election on his official Instagram page, claiming that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was not declared the winner despite receiving close to 50% of the vote (49.52%), and that he agreed to a run-off. He continued, saying;
If Nigeria is involved, the presidential candidate "will hire 75 SANS and run to the supreme court to claim that 49.52 is equal to 50 just like the INEC and APC changed the meaning of AND when the constitution clearly stated that 25% in 24 states AND FCT,"
