The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received the highest National award of the Grand Commander of the Order of Federal Republic (GCFR) from the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari. He will handover to former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
President Muhammadu Buhari also bestowed the second highest national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger. (GCON). The investiture ceremony took place this morning at the State House in Abuja.
Muhammadu Buhari, who has been serving as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 2015 will end his tenure on the 29th of May, 2023.

Recall that former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress defeated Atiku Abubakar and other strong contenders including Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in the election held on the 25th of February, 2023 to clinch the apex political seat in the country.

The presidential election Tribunal commenced sitting last week Monday to hear the cases by the parties.
